New Doctor Who? causes mixed reactions

POSTED ON 28 JULY 2017

It’s that time again when the Doctor must regenerate… in other words the actor is changing but, in this case, it will be an actress taking on the leading role

Over the last 54 years many Doctors have come and gone during the regeneration. From the first William Hartnell to the current Peter Capaldi and those in between.

Now is the turn of Peter Capaldi to change form and become the first female Doctor to grace our television screens. Who you ask got the part many dream of having? Well, it’s Jodie Whittaker, best known for her roles in Venus and St Trinians and who has so far been nominated for seven awards since her acting debut.

However, since the news that the 13th Doctor is to be a woman, the internet has gone crazy with very mixed views on the announcement. While some argue that it’s wrong after all these years to change the gender of the lead character, others say that it’s time for change. Jodie herself spoke out saying that fans should, “not be scared by my gender”.
