England through to Euros semi final

England have beaten France 1-0 in the Women’s Euro 2017 to reach the last four and on Thursday they will face the hosts of the competition, the Netherlands

The team made history after reaching a second consecutive major tournament semi final, with manager Mark Sampson saying that he was “proud” of their achievement before challenging the England team to go on and win the Women’s Euro 2017. “For the team, we are consistently making history with our performances and results,” he said.

“We have excited the English public. It has been a long time since the country had a team they can believe in in terms of winning a major tournament.

“But there are four fantastic teams left in the competition. Now we have to make that next step and get into our first final together.”

England’s win over France drew an attendance of 6,283 and with England scoring at least five goals more than any other team at Euro 2017 despite having only the eighth most attempts on goal, it looks like luck could be on their side.

Kick off for England’s semi final will take place at 7.45pm on Thursday 3rd August at Enschede, the Netherlands.
